About
Zohrab is an entrepreneur and executive in the Energy sector where he has been active since 1995 and has led the development of over 1,200 MW of now operational renewable generation.
Zohrab is a co-founder and President of oneGRID Corporation, a company that develops HVDC projects in the Americas to address the increasing need for clean and renewable energy supply to changing markets. Zohrab also co-founded Lake Erie Power Corp., a company that initiated development of the Lake Erie Connector, a proposed 1,000 MW high voltage DC transmission line connecting Ontario to Pennsylvania. Zohrab is Managing Partner of Africa Energy Development Corporation, a developer of renewable energy projects primarily in East Africa. AEDC is developing several utility scale solar PV projects in Kenya and other markets in Africa, with an interest in solar, wind, hydro and geothermal. AEDC’s 40MW Malindi Solar Project in Kenya is planned for construction start in Q3/2018.
From 2009 to 2011, Zohrab led Canadian business development activities in renewable energy for Samsung C&T. He was tasked with implementation of the 2,500 MW Green Energy Investment Agreement between the Government of Ontario, Samsung C&T and Korea Electric Power Corporation. Zohrab’s role included strategy, acquisitions, Greenfield development oversight, negotiations (equipment supply, power purchase agreements) as well as government and aboriginal relations. Zohrab was also involved in negotiations between manufacturers and government to set up manufacturing facilities in Ontario. During his time at Samsung, Zohrab initiated development of projects such as the South Kent Wind Farm (270 MW) which is Canada’s largest wind energy facility and the Grand Renewable Energy Project (100 MW solar + 150 MW wind, 250 MW total) which is a wind and solar energy cluster including Canada’s largest solar energy facility.
