Engineering students, faculty and staff hosted Explorations 2013 on Monday, March 14th. The event targeted students in grades 6 through 8, parents and other audience interested in understanding how engineering addresses societal issues. Students of WISE members, Prof. Giovanni Cascante, Prof. Andrei Sazonov, and Prof. Roydon Fraser participated in Explorations 2013.
This year's event Explore the many worlds of engineering received over 1,000 attendees who were taken on tours and given live demonstrations on key themes including technology and communication, environment and health. Brendan, one of the students presenting at the event, expressed that the event was very successful in inspiring young minds and opening them to the world of science and technology. Explorations 2013 provided a great opportunity to engage communities, inform them about university research areas and allow shaping their attitudes towards a better future.
