Applied Research and Commercialization Initiative (ARC) II - Funding Opportunity
Message from Gary Brock, Office of Research:
Applied Research and Commercialization Initiative (ARC)
The University of Waterloo's Office of Research will be extending its Applied Research and Commercialization Initiative (ARC) with the support of FedDev Ontario. This initiative will support University based projects with small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in southern Ontario on activities such as applied research, engineering design, technology development, product testing, and certification.
Applications are now being sought from University of Waterloo faculty and Southern Ontario SME partners interested in accessing this funding to bring innovative products and processes to market, improving Ontario's competitiveness within 3 vital sectors- Information Technology, Energy & Environment, and Manufacturing
Projects awards of up to $50K ARC funding will be made with a minimum SME match of 50% of the total project costs required (i.e. An application for $50K of ARC funding requires a minimum SME match of $50K of either cash and/or in-kind). Note that there will be an accelerated ARC application and selection process with applications due May 29th with award decisions to be made by June 15th, 2012.
All projects and associated spending must be completed by March 31, 2013. We anticipate awarding 14 - 16 projects under this program (total funding available remains confidential until FedDev has made their official announcement/press release).
Interested faculty should go to the Office of Research homepage http://www.research.uwaterloo.ca/ for additional information (including the program guidelines and application form) or contact;
