Canada-Israel Energy S&T Fund, Canada-Israel Industrial R&D Foundation (CIIRDF)
The Canada-Israel Industrial R&D Foundation has announced a new funding program - the Canada-Israel Energy S&T Fund (CIEST Fund):
Background: Invites Canadian and Israeli companies and academic researchers to cooperate on the research, development and commercialization of innovative energy technologies and processes.
Award: up to 50% of eligible Canadian project costs, ranging from $300,000 - $500,000. Canadian university research can apply for NSERC CRD or ARD grants as part of the application to CIIRDF. Note: This grant could increase up to max. $1m for high quality consortium-led projects with at least two Canadian industrial and two academic partners.
Funding for Israeli partners is provided by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labour, Isreal
Fields of Study: Strong focus on key challenges in the unconventional oil and gas sector:
- promotes innovation that enhances the development of sustainable resources such as the oil sands and shale-derived hydrocarbon;
- improves the efficiency of key renewable energy sources;
- and reduces environmental impact associated with energy exploration, extraction, processing and production.
- Other areas of focus include: new renewable energy sources; energy efficiency in buildings, communities, industry and transportation; bioenergy and clean electricity generation; and the electrification of transportation.

Application Procedure: Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a Proposal Summary to CIIRDF for pre-proposal assessment. Submission by email.
