Ontario Smart Grid Fund: Application Window Open Until Sept 6th
The Ministry of Energy is seeking more innovative Smart Grid projects to support the development of its modern, intelligent electricity system and is now accepting project applications for the next round of the Smart Grid Fund program.
The application window is now open. The deadline for submitting a completed application is September 6th, 2013.
Launched in 2011, Ontario's Smart Grid Fund supports the growth and advancement of the province's electricity grid. By investing in Ontario-based projects the benefits of a smart electricity grid, like improved reliability and conservation capacity, will be brought to homes and businesses while providing economic development opportunities and creating jobs across the province.
To assist prospective Smart Grid Fund applicants, the Ministry of Energy will host an information session on July 10. Prospective applicants are strongly encouraged to attend, either in person in downtown Toronto or via Webcast. The session will provide insight and advice on how to create a strong and relevant application, provide clarity as to the administration of the program, and offer the opportunity to ask questions about Ontario's Smart Grid Fund program. Attendance at the information session can only lead to a smoother and more comprehensive application experience. Please visit the Smart Grid Fund website for more information on how to participate in the information session.
The Ministry would like to highlight two program changes from the previous call for applications that may affect your project proposal:
- Universities/colleges are now eligible to submit applications as Lead Applicants.
- The Smart Grid Fund will now cover up to 50% of eligible costs incurred by Ontario electricity utilities.
Please download and review the Smart Grid Fund Program Guidelines to learn more about these and other program conditions. This will help you identify any issues that you may wish to clarify at the Information Session. The official Smart Grid Fund application form is also available. Please review the Guidelines before attempting to complete your application. Submit the completed application via e-mail to SGF@ontario.ca.
Applications will be accepted until 4 p.m. Friday, September 6, 2013.
Should you be interested in applying, we look forward to receiving your application. Otherwise, please forward information about the Smart Grid Fund to any organizations or network that may have interest. We thank you for helping build awareness of this important program.
Sincerely,
Tom Chapman
