Call for Applications - The Energy Council of Canada Energy Policy Research Fellowship
Enhancing and Promoting Energy Policy Research
The Energy Council of Canada Energy Policy Research Fellowship will provide $500,000 over 10 years to graduate students engaged in energy policy research. Annual fellowships valued at $15,000 for Master's students and $25,000 for Doctoral students will be awarded to eligible full-time graduate students registered at the University of Waterloo. Students must demonstrate interest in energy policy research and, more specifically, must be conducting research consistent with the identified Energy Policy Research Topic(s) defined annually by the Waterloo Institute for Sustainable Energy (WISE) in conjunction with Energy Council of Canada. The available topics for the upcoming fellowships are:
- Energy Literacy/Public outreach and engagement: Enhancing Effectiveness of Energy Literacy Initiatives
- Market Diversification: the Opportunities and Challenges Canada Faces and (Principles for) a Path Forward
- Demand side management and the Implications of the True Cost of Energy
- Inter-Provincial Energy Trade
- Carbon Management: Bridging to a Lower Carbon Future
- Human Resource Implications Including Labour Availability
- Smart Cities and Energy Networks (including convergence of energy, mobility, transport and ICT)
- State Corporation Ownership of Canada’s Energy Assets
- The future of energy delivery services
- Data access and privacy issues related to smart grid
- The Impact of Regional/Distributed Energy Systems on Canada’s Energy Industry Going Forward
- Benefits and Barriers of Enhanced International Energy Trade
Selection will also be based on academic excellence (minimum cumulative average of 80%).
