The Principals of Resilience Based Management of Natural Resources

Programme cost: 2050 EUR - Dorm / 2400 EUR - Single room
The programme cost includes: accommodation, 3 meals a day, and transportation during the programme. Maximum of 20 students. The accommodation will be provided by the Icelandic Soil Conservation at their station in Gunnarsholt, in the south of Iceland.
Programme Description:
Reykjavik University, in collaboration with the Soil Conservation Service of Iceland, will be offering a one week field course on geology and hydrology. This 3 ECTS course gives students an overview of the principals of hydrological observations and of resilience based water and land management through a seven day field excursion.
Students will learn and experience:
- Discharge measurements
- Glacial lake outbursts
- Sediment transport.
Degradation and restoration - Dynamic of the ever changing nature of Iceland.
The course includes visits to many sites of geological and environmental interest such as Geysir and Thingvellir. Gunnarsholt, in southern Iceland will serves as a base for this summer course.
