“Science in the Developing World: Enhancing Research Capacity”: Call for Student Poster Presentation
The Science in the Developing World Workshop provides a forum for discussing challenges for pursuing, producing and utilizing science in the developing world. The workshop is being held at the Balsillie School of International Affairs on September 17-18, 2015.
We welcome all graduate students to register in the poster competition being held during the two-day workshop. Graduate students are able to present work relevant to the workshop topics:
- Global Health and Development
- Politics, Numbers, and Representation
- Institutions and Collaborations
- Agriculture and Environment.
During the first day, students will have an opportunity to present their posters to all event participants. The top three participants will have the opportunity to present their work in a three-minute poster presentation competition on the second day.
Abstract and poster selection criteria
Abstracts and posters will be judged using the following criteria:
- Relevance and appropriateness to the conference themes;
- Originality of contribution and quality of work;
- Potential for application to practice or policy.
Prizes will be presented to the top three posters.
Abstract Submission
Please submit a 250 word abstract to Elijah Bisung at ebisung@uwaterloo.ca or Andrea Rishworth at arishwor@uwaterloo.ca by July 24, 2015.
Notification of abstract acceptance or rejection will be sent by August 2nd, 2015.
NOTE: The maximum poster size should be 3 ft. x 3 ft.
This is a great opportunity to understand the complexity of diagnosing and ameliorating challenges related to science in the developing world. We welcome all graduate students who would like to contribute to engaging conversation to submit an abstract!
