The Waterloo Institute for Sustainable Energy (WISE) invites you to enter the WISE Energy Day 2016 Video Contest. If you are a University of Waterloo student fascinated with sustainable energy matters within Canada, enter this contest! Three prizes will be awarded and a number of selected videos will be featured during Energy Day 2016 activities on Wednesday, March 30!

Share your personal perspective on any of the questions provided below. Please note that your video should provide a response to only ONE of the following questions. You may, however, enter separate videos in response to each question. You may use any narrative or technical style within your video (e.g. animation, live action, documentary).

 Contest Rules

• You must be currently registered as a student at the University of Waterloo
• Entries must be received between 9:00am Eastern Daylight Time (EDD on Friday, March 11 and 12:00 noon EDT on Friday, March 18
• By entering this contest, you are giving WISE permission to advertise/publish all information from your submission on our website and social media outlets
• Award winners will be contacted within 24 hours to confirm prize arrangements
• Prize(s) cannot be exchanged for cash and no prize alternatives will be offered
• The judging criteria will be based on content clarity, strength of arguments, and creativity
• Video Award winners will be announced following Energy Day 2016 Concluding Remarks on Wednesday, March 30. You do not have to attend the event to win a prize

Video Guidelines

• A maximum of one (1) minute for the video length
• You may submit a maximum of three video entries (one video per question)
• The video must be taken by the individual or team submitting the video (please delegate one contact person if in a team)
• The video must include Closed Captioning (subtitles) in English displayed at the bottom of the screen with Arial font
• A transcript document in .doc format must be submitted with your video entry (will not be published; for judging purposes)
• The use of the video must not infringe the proprietary rights, including without limitation the intellectual property rights, of any third party
• The use of the video must be in compliance with any third-party licenses pertaining to the video
• The video must not be obscene or libelous and must not violate the right of privacy or publicity of any third party
• The video and its use must not violate any federal, provincial or local laws or ordinances

 Submission Details

• Submit your video clip by 12 noon on Friday, March 18
• You may submit the video either by:
  • Uploading it onto your YouTube channel and provide the URL to info@wise.uwaterloo.ca
  • Put the video in MPEG4 format on a USB stick and hand it in person to Iris Strickler in CPH 3611E
• Along with your video submission with the embedded link, e-mail info@wise.uwaterloo.ca the following information:

1. Interesting title for your video to be used for Energy Day marketing materials
2. Full name of participant(s)
3. School program of participant(s)
4. Headshot of participant (minimum size of 500 by 500 pixels and format in .jpg or .png)
   • If you are entering as a team, please submit only one photo of all members

• Naming files:

1. Subject of email: WISE Energy Day 2016 Video Contest – Full Name*
2. Video file: WISE Energy Day 2016 Video Contest – Full Name*
3. Transcript file: ED2016-Transcript-FullName

* Full Name of participant or contact person of the team entering

Prize Details

• Winners selected by WISE Judging Committee
• First Place, Second Place and Third Place prizes awarded as flex dollars on your WatCard as follows:
  • 1^st Place $150 flex dollars
  • 2^nd Place $100 flex dollars
  • 3^rd Place $50 flex dollars
